Juego de Estrellas LMB: Una mirada cinematográfica al diamante

In 2022, Antimateria Films had the honor of capturing one of the most vibrant moments in Mexican baseball: the Liga Mexicana de Béisbol All-Star Game. More than just a sporting event, it became a spectacle of emotion, storytelling, and legacy. Our mission was to portray it not simply as an event, but as a full-on experience.

Directed by Mike Bautista and produced by Antimateria Films, the crew included David Virgen, Emery Perez, Eliasib Peña, and Cinthya Gonzales. This project stands as one of our most ambitious pieces in terms of delivery time and visual concept. Conceived as a visual tribute to the spirit of the game, the short film was completed in under 48 hours after the final pitch—offering a narrative that blends sports epic with cinematic sensitivity.

For director, this project held a deep personal meaning. Back in 2013–2014, at the very beginning of his career, his first job in media was operating camera at Rieleros baseball stadium and for Club Necaxa football matches. Under the guidance of producer Alex Herrera, who trusted him to move from camera operator to director of the in-stadium feed, Mike began capturing the soul of sports through a more documentary-driven lens.

A High-Caliber Production

The original score was composed and produced live by David Virgen during the post-production process, adding an emotional layer that shaped each scene perfectly. From the first shot to the closing frame, every moment was crafted to transmit the energy of the stadium, the dedication of the players, and the roar of the fans. A poetic and evocative voiceover guided viewers through a visual journey that spoke of myth, legacy, and everything a single game can hold.

“Yes, they will come, because this game is magical. And they will watch the game, and the memories will be so strong they’ll have to wipe them from their faces...,” echoes the narration that opens this piece, merging the thrill of sport with a poetic, introspective gaze.

A Long-Awaited After Covid Return

After several years away, the All-Star Game made a powerful comeback to the LMB. According to outlets like Séptima Entrada, MiLB and AS México, the event not only brought together the league’s top talent—it reignited the national passion for baseball. It was a celebration for players, teams, and most importantly, the fans.
