In an effort that underscores our dedication to bringing cinematic narrative into the realm of music videos, we present a deep dive into the production of "Perro Lobo", the official video for Santa Fe KlanĀ in collaboration with Alberto y Roberto. This project, a fundamental piece of the acclaimed album Baile Cholo, is a work that stands out for its aesthetic and thematic commitment to creating a powerful visual story.

The Genesis: An Album Born from Reflection
The album Baile CholoĀ marked a turning point for Santa Fe Klan (Ćngel Jair Quezada). According to the artist, it was his first work recorded "totally sober" or "in his five senses," with Cumbia and Vallenato serving as a creative refuge and focal point.
At the heart of this project lies "Perro Lobo", a song of vital importance: as Ćngel mentions in the making of, "if this song didn't exist, the album wouldn't exist either." It was through this track that he met JuliĆ”n Villareal, "El Moko"Ā (@julianvillarrealmx), the album's producer, thus beginning to shape the sound identity of Baile Cholo.
The emotional and profound lyrics were authored by the great Tamaulipas writer JosĆ© Luis GómezĀ (R.I.P.), and are based on a real-life story. As Ćngel, Alberto, and Roberto express in the behind-the-scenes footage, the song narrates the loss of inner freedom, reliving fragments of a past marked by violence and difficult decisions. The video aligns with the raw nature of the story, reflecting a "life that happens to us, and not us happening to life."

From Concept to Built Set: A Production Commitment
To achieve the melancholic and raw tone required by this story of urban realism, the executive production faced logistical challenges that demanded total commitment to the artistic vision. The goal was to blend the danceable rhythm with an introspective and tough narrative.
To ensure the quality of execution, the Direction and Photography team (led by AESEĀ as Director and Mike BautistaĀ as Director of Photography) approached Rem Films, entrusting the production to Executive Producer Giselle FloresĀ (@gissellef).
The central element of this production was the construction of the jail, the claustrophobic environment where the protagonist (the "Perro Lobo") relives his memories. This set was meticulously designed and built at Black Bear Studios (Monterrey, MĆ©xico). Controlling the scenography was crucial, allowing for the precise shaping of light, contrast, and textureāessential elements for the visual language laid out in the treatment.

The Director of Photography's Gaze: Honesty and Memory
The Director of Photography (DP), Mike BautistaĀ (@mikebautistadop), brought a deep sensitivity to the piece, with an approach that seeks "not to beautify the wound."
In Mike's words, the video's photographic vision is a "tribute to the people I grew up with as a kid back in Parral, Chihuahua," referring to young people who were pushed into criminality by the circumstances of their environment. This personal memory imbues the video with a brutal authenticity and respectĀ for the setting and the character's life, succeeding in transmitting the heart and vulnerability behind the tough facade of the neighborhood.
Acknowledging the Talent and Effort
"Perro Lobo" is part of a larger production effort. Under the same direction and with Aldo Bautista "AESE 13" and Mike Bautista as DP, the crew worked on a cycle of three official music videos for Baile Cholo, also including "BÔjate la Falda" and "Para Mi Hijo".
This production required the synergy and professionalism of a high-level team, to whom we extend our recognition:
"Perro Lobo" is an example of how a clear artistic vision, backed by decisive production (such as the construction of a complete set and the management of a committed team), can elevate a music video to the category of a piece of cinema with social impact.
We invite you to watch the official video and the making ofĀ to appreciate the result of this effort:
