Overview
In 2024, we were invited by Cluster & Bosk to collaborate on a deeply resonant campaign for The Home Depot in celebration of Father’s Day. Directed by Mike Bautista, the project was envisioned as a visual tribute to the quiet strength and guidance of fatherhood. This 00:36 commercial belongs to our sanctuary of branded content, where we prioritize narratives that seek the soul of the human experience.
Challenges & Approach
Our approach was rooted in our belief that "it is in the fragments of truth that the soul of storytelling resides". Rather than relying on cinematic tricks, Mike focused on "intention before technique" to capture the honest portrayal of family bonds.
Emotional Casting: To find the right "essence," Mike conducted an experimental workshop with the cast. This process became a form of "express therapy," moving many of the fathers to tears as they connected with their own family memories.
Visual Sensitivity: Following our Visual Bible, the lighting was designed not just to illuminate, but to reveal the warmth and kindness in a father's eyes and the strength in his hands.
Intimate Vignettes: We captured three everyday moments—fixing a bicycle, hanging a picture, and sanding wood—where the movement of the camera acted as a "breath," giving gravity to these simple yet profound gestures
The result
The final piece is a testament to the idea that "the image does not explain, it suggests". The narrative culminates in a powerful reflection from a daughter who realizes that the toolbox her father gave her was merely a symbol; he had already provided her with all the "tools" needed for life through his presence.
