in 2023 Antimateria Films set out to capture the beating heart of Mexican baseball: the Liga Mexicana de Béisbol (LMB) All-Star Game. This was more than a professional assignment; it was a sanctuary for seekers of the cinematic soul. After a long hiatus following the pandemic, the game’s return reignited a national passion. Our mission was to look beyond the play and capture the "fragments of truth" that reside in the roar of the fans and the legacy of the diamond.

48 Hours of Narrative Intensity

Directed by Mike Bautista and produced under the Antimateria banner, this project remains one of our most ambitious technical achievements. We challenged the traditional speed of sports media, delivering a complete cinematic short film in under 48 hours.

-Intention Over Technique: By prioritizing the "Mago" archetype, we used light not just to illuminate the stadium, but to reveal the invisible energy of the event.

-A Live Score: Composer David Virgen produced the original score live during the post-production process, creating a "singularity of light, sound, and sentiment" that shaped every scene.

-The Poetic Gaze: A narratively driven voiceover guided the journey, turning a sporting event into a visual tribute to myth and shared memory.

A Personal Journey: From the Sideline to the Director’s Chair

For our director, this production represented a profound creative cycle. Mike Bautista’s first steps in media—operating cameras for the Rieleros and Club Necaxa in 2013—were the genesis of his "documentary-driven" lens. Under the trust of producer Alex Herrera, Mike transitioned from operator to director, learning that in the quiet whispers of the stadium, everything eventually makes sense. This project stands as a testament to that evolution: a celebration of the spirit of the game through a cinematic, introspective gaze.
